City of David Excavations Restarted
Excavations began this week in the City of David under the direction of Eilat Mazar. The plan is to dig for six months, ostensibly with hopes of learning more about the structure identified by the excavator as the palace of David.
From a distance, it looks like someone else is digging in the City of David as well.

OK, so what were they digging up in the parking lot across the street from the City of David entrance?

Are these really views from the west? I had imagined the site being on the eastern side of the hill. In either case, thanks for the info & nice photos!

Oops - I meant east; now corrected.
Al - they haven't worked there in 2-3 years. They had gone through Byzantine and earlier levels and were getting to Second Temple period in some places. The finds were domestic, as I recall.

A view of the second floor balcony indicates they may have found Bathsheba's tub.
Thanks for the update.
